POSITION PURPOSE & SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union live out its mission, “to enhance the quality of life for the Los Angeles Police Department family by serving as a trusted partner providing rewarding financial solutions through exceptional service.” To achieve this purpose this position must provide outstanding service to both internal and external members. A key part of this outstanding service is to identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution. Responsible for delivering on the Credit Union’s Service Promises and maintaining the Credit Union’s Quality Service Standard.

Additionally, under the direction of the Supervisor, utilizes knowledge based on experience in exercising discretion and independent judgment in interpreting policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and LAPFCU policies and procedures. Also supports Secondary Market processes when needed. Reading and interpreting Investor Guidelines and assisting with the dissemination of the information to all staff members. Assist with the mentoring / educating of other underwriters, processors and staff. Assist Processors and Members with restructuring loans as needed to the benefit of the Member. Performs other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of and ensures on-going compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, such as BSA, OFAC, CIP, TRID, HMDA and internal policies and procedures.

Be an active/supportive participant in all service training. Utilize tools as they are made available.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
  • Training and Experience: Minimum five years underwriting experience
  • Previous signing authority to $1 million dollars, desirable
  • Experienced with Desktop Underwriter, All Regs, manual underwriting (additional investor underwriting experience, desirable)
    Proficient in personal, corporate and partnership tax returns
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Required License and/or Documentation: Valid California driver’s license, proof of current insurance coverage, and valid registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry as enacted and required by the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) for Mortgage Licensing Act.
