(Los Angeles, CA, February 6, 2008) - In ongoing efforts to support its membership beyond their financial needs, Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union (LAPFCU), a single-sponsor credit union, donated $90,000 to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and its related organizations in 2007.
The donations benefited over 61 LAPD-affiliated programs and events. Among them were: the LAPD Historical Society's Annual Jack Webb Awards dinner, which honors community leaders; the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club's Baker to Vegas Relay Race; Los Angeles Police Protective League Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament; Los Angeles Police Foundation Medal of Valor Luncheon, which honors heroic acts of LAPD officers; LAPD Peer Counseling Program; and National Police Week.
"Our sponsorship program is yet another way the Credit Union gives back to its police family, and it is an honor for us to be able to support our LAPD community," said Mike Padgett, LAPFCU President/CEO. "This program is also beneficial in that it shows our members that we are here for them, not only with financial, but other support as well."
In addition to its sponsorship program, LAPFCU provides individual donations to officers and their families who are in need as a result of injuries, death or health-related issues.
